Civil Services Officers Institute

Background

Civil Services Officers Institute (CSOI), a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1960, was set up in 1998.The institute has been functioning from the premises situated in M.S. Apartment, Kasturba Gandhi Marg New Delhi. Constitution of new premises for the Institute of Chanakyapuri has been taken up.

Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the CSOI inter alia include:-

To promote the welfare of the officers of the Civil Services and to bring them together in order to secure complete integration of the services and to build a corps of officers imbibed with the spirit of co-operation in all aspects of Civil Services.
To hold, organize, arrange and conduct seminars, symposiums, talks, debates, lectures and other means of dispensing education to meet the needs and challenges of modern day Civil Administration.
To print and publish journals, periodicals and manuals to keep the civil servants abreast of modern day developments in Civil Administration.
To acquire and promote modern skills of Civil Administration and to harmonise between the different fields of Civil Administration by disseminating or exchanging knowledge thereof and by providing such other facilities as would lead to their Universal Application.
To establish and maintain libraries and information services to facilitate the study of Civil Administration at World level and spreading information in regard thereto.
To organize and maintain, on no-profit-no-loss basis, limited residential accommodation, for the members of the Society coming to participate in the activities of the Association and of other bodies with cognate objectives, as well as non-members, invited to participate in the activities of the Association.

Organisational Structure

The Institute is managed by Governing Council and an Executive Committee, whose members are ex-officio. There are 20 members each in the Governing Council and Executive Committee. Cabinet Secretary is the Chairman of the Governing Council and Secretary (Personnel) is the President of the Executive Committee. All the serving and retired officers of the grade of Deputy Secretary and above from All India services and Group A officers of equivalent status are eligible for membership of the Institute.

Budgetary Grant

Grants-in-aid assistance is provided by the Government for Capital investments only. In the current Budget a provision of Rs. 6 crores has been kept for the construction of new premises. The Institute generates its own funds for meeting the establishment expenditure, maintenance and upkeep of assets.
